World Cup Finals Germany vs Argentina Start Time

Germany vs. Argentina: Early Odds and Projections for 2014 World Cup Final

The World Cup Finals have arrived and Germany will take on Argentina later today. The World Cup Finals Start Time is scheduled for 3:00 (EST) p.m. and it will be televised nationally on ABC.

Both teams have a lot of star power and neither team has tasted defeat yet in this World Cup. The Germans draw with Ghana way back in the group stage as the only blemish on either team's record to this point.

Argentina has looked strong, winning each of their matches by a single goal up until a penalty kick victory over the Netherlands in the semifinals. The Argentines haven't given up a goal, outside of penalty kicks, since Nigeria scored a couple of tallies way back on June 25 in the final group stage game. That is certainly an impressive accomplishment for Argentina, who are going to have their hands full keeping Germany off the scoreboard.

The Germans blew Brazil out of the water in the other semifinal matchup, scoring seven goals against the host country. Certainly Brazil came into that match not sure where their footing was, having not playing with Neymar on the field.

Lionel Messi has been brilliant in this World Cup. If Argentina has a shot in this one today, he's going to have to continue to be awesome on the pitch.

This will be the third meeting between Germany and Argentina in the World Cup Finals. The two clubs have each split a victory. If we take every match they've played, Argentina holds a 9-6 advantage. Certainly this is Brazil's worst nightmare: they host the World Cup but Argentina has found a way to reach the finals and has a legitimate shot at winning the whole thing.

Everyone knows Messi and Thomas Muller are the two guys to stop for either team. Germany, better known as "The Machine" is going to bring their entire attack into this one. Muller is going to roam around the net and look to find a way to get an open look or two.

If we're looking at the best overall team here, it's Germany. Messi definitely gives Argentina a serious threat in the field, but Germany is going to find a way to bottle him up.

We like Germany to hoist the World Cup in what should be an awesome match.

Prediction: Germany 2, Argentina 1
