The Texas Longhorns are hosting the West Virginia Mountaineers in college football action on Saturday. Texas still has an outside shot to save Charlie Strong’s job. Whether or not his fate has already been decided remains to be seen, but a win here over another ranked opponent would certainly be a nice positive for the Longhorns.
Texas is playing well the last month, even with a 3-2 record in those give games they suffered defeats to Oklahoma (five points) and Kansas State (three points). Wins there would have them at 7-2 and probably ranked highly in the polls. But that’s not how the hand was dealt to Texas, though they have won two straight over Baylor and Texas Tech.
West Virginia just beat Kansas and they are solid on both sides of the football. The defense has been a definite positive for the Mountaineers this season but in this one they are going to get a heavy dose of D’Onta Foreman, he is averaging seven yards a carry and has 13 touchdowns. He’s coming off a monster game with 341 yards and three touchdowns last week over Texas Tech. He’s gone over the 100-yard mark in every game this season and should be able to reach that again against these Mountaineers.
Texas can win this game. It’s at home, the offense is strong with Foreman leading the way and Texas’ defense has been good enough the past month to give them confidence in this one.
