Wednesday Night Baseball San Francisco Giants vs Philadelphia Phillies Odds

2012 NLCS: Should the S.F. Giants Trust Madison Bumgarner to Start Again?

The San Francisco Giants take on the Philadelphia Phillies in Wednesday Night Baseball. The game is scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on ESPN. Currently the odds for the game have the Giants favored to pick up this win on the road.

Philadelphia is having a terrible season. Their payroll is severely bloated and they have a lot of old players that are past their prime. Philadelphia is trying their best to not have to sell off assets at the trade deadline, but that ship seems to be sinking fast.

Tonight they will take on San Francisco ace Madison Bumgarner. He's been very good this season, but has already lost seven games mainly due to some lack of run support. The Giants have won two in a row and with Bumgarner on the mound tonight, they'll be looking to earn that third straight victory. The Giants already lead the National League West by a game over the Dodgers and in order to stay ahead of them, they'll have to pick up wins in games like this.

AJ Burnett is getting the ball for the Phillies. He more than likely will be moved at the trade deadline, so there's a chance he could have a solid outing in this game tonight. But, in his last start against Atlanta, he was beaten up pretty good. The Phillies are at least hoping he can make a good start tonight as they are obviously looking to win as many games as possible despite really being out of the race.

Burnett has a 2.48 ERA in four starts against teams from the NL West this year, but he hasn't started against the Giants. Tonight's matchup will certainly be one to watch — current Giant hitters have a .291 average against Burnett in almost 80 plate appearances. Phillies have packed it in and aren't going to be playing in the post season.

The Giants can use a win here against a pitcher they can beat.
