Wednesday Night Baseball San Diego Padres vs Oakland A's Betting Odds Free Pick

Wednesday night baseball and we will see the San Diego Padres travel to O.Co Stadium to take on the Oakland A'sFree Pick to follow. First pitch is scheduled for a 10:05 PM (Eastern) start time and the game will be televised locally.

Betting Odds

San Diego              +155
Oakland                  -165

Over/ Under: 7.5 U -125

This is game 3 of a 4 game series between these Interleague League foes. The first two games were played in San Diego and the A's won both games. Prior to the Oakland series the Padres did fire Bud Black and it hasn't seemed to help yet. They are 2 games under .500 for the year and 6.5 games behind the division leading Dodgers in the NL West. The A's are starting to turn it around as they have now won 3 in a row and 5 of their last 7. Still they are in last place in the AL West and have really struggled at home this year, where they are 11-18 so far.

The Padres rank 13th in scoring (4.24 rpg), 21st in hitting (.245) and 20th in homers (54), while on the mound they are 20th in ERA (4.05) and 26th in WHIP (1.34). The Padres are 11-3 in their last 14 games after losing the first 2 games of a series, but just 12-25 in their last 37 games vs. a starter with a WHIP less than 1.15 and 2-10 in their last 12 games as a road underdog of +151 to +200.

Oakland ranks 9th in scoring (4.30 rpg), 13th in hitting (.255) and 17th in homers (57), while on the mound they are 7th in ERA (3.56) and 10th in WHIP (1.23). Oakland has gone 34-8 in their last 42 interleague games as a favorite of -151 to -200 and 17-5 in their last 22 vs. the National League West, but just 1-6 in Chavez's last 7 starts following a Quality Start in his last appearance

Getting the ball for the Padres tonight will be Odrisamer Despaigne, who is 3-4 with a 4.38 ERA in 13 games (9 starts) this year. as a starter he is 3-4 with a 4.33 ERA, and he has never faced the A's in his career. In 4 road starts this year he is 1-2 with a 5.32 ERA.

Taking the hill for the A's tonight will be Jesse Chavez, who is 2-6 with a 2.64 ERA in 14 games (10 starts) this year. As a starter he has gone 2-6 with a 2.91 ERA, which includes a 1-4 mark and a 3.55 ERA in 6 rad starts for the year. He has never started vs the Padres, but he is 0-0 with a 5.06 ERA in 6 relief appearances vs them in his career.

Pick: Going with the A's in this one. The Padres are a mess right now and have fired their coach, which doesn't look like it was a wise thing to do. Bud Black is hard to replace. The Padres offense has holes in it, while their defense is one of the worst in the league. Tonight the A's have the better starter on the mound and their offense is starting to come around. They have struggled at home this year, but I don't see that happening in this one.
