Wednesday MLB Seattle Mariners at Texas Rangers Start Time, Odds, Free Pick

The Seattle Mariners are once again on the road this afternoon in matinee Major League Baseball action when they take on the Texas Rangers. The game is scheduled for a 2:05 p.m. start time and it will be televised live in both markets. Currently the odds for the game have the Rangers favored to pick up the win in matinee action at home.

Seattle got a second consecutive great start from Hisashi Iwakuma on Tuesday, beating the Rangers in a low-scoring contest that saw him toss seven innings, following the no-hitter against Baltimore. Today the Mariners will once again look to knock off the Rangers, who surprisingly are still alive in the American League playoff hunt.

The Mariners are well out of pretty much everything this year, they're arguably the most disappointing team in the entire league. Today they're sending Mike Montgomery to the mound. He's been serviceable all year for the Mariners, pitching himself into a record of 4-5 with a 4.14 ERA in 14 starts. Some bad news for Montgomery: he's already thrown against the Rangers this season and it wasn't the best. Montgomery gave up three earned runs in four innings of work and despite the Rangers winning that game by eight runs, all eight of the winning margin came in the ninth. Montgomery's road splits show an ERA of 5.02, a run and a half higher than his ERA at Safeco Field this season.

Current Rangers are hitting .294 against him in 17 at bats, but nobody has more than 17 at bats against him.

The Rangers are going with Derek Holland, who returns from the 60-day disabled list. Holland made just one start this season and lasted a single inning before exited with a shoulder injury that's kept him out of the rotation since mid-April. Holland's career numbers against current Mariner hitters show Seattle hitting .270 over the course of 148 at bats. Mark Trumbo has four home runs, five other Seattle players have homered as well, including Robinson Cano, who also has a lifetime average of .357 against Holland.

Holland could look great today, or he could struggle with command and fatigue. Seattle seems to have hit him well in his career but they have been very inconsistent all year on the road. Probably safe to take the over in this one, though, as both teams should be able to get some runs on the board.

Movie Oakland Raiders: 2015 NFL Free Picks & Betting Odds

Vegas betting expert Steve Fezzik doesn’t expect the bad situation in Oakland to get much better this season. This AFC West team may have some improvements in terms of personnel, but Jack Del Rio is the latest in a carousel of ever-changing mediocre coaches, and Fezzik doesn’t expect he is the guy to turn this team around. He also thinks people are overstating Derek Carr’s abilities at quarterback, as he may do well in the fourth quarter, but his numbers are padded with garbage time performance.
