Wednesday night baseball and I will have a Free Pick in the game between the Kansas City Royals and the Houston Astros, which will be played at Minute Maid Park in Houston. First pitch is scheduled for a 8:10 PM (Eastern) start time and the game will be televised on FOX.
Over/ Under: 7.5 U -120
This is game 3 of a 3 game series between these American League foes. The Houston Astros have gotten the better of this series so far as they have taken the first 2 games behind superb pitching. The Astros have now won 3 games in a row and continue to sport the 2nd best record in the AL. They are also a solid 27-16 at home. With the loss the Royals are now under .600 for the year, but still have a solid 4.5 game lead over the Twins in the AL Central. Kansas City is 22-17 on the road for the year.
The Royals rank 11th in scoring (4.28 rpg), 2nd in hitting (.271) and 26th in homers (56), while on the mound they are 9th in ERA (3.52) and 9th in WHIP (1.22). Houston ranks 7th in scoring (4.45 rpg), 28th in hitting (.240) and 1st in homers (113), while on the mound they are 7th in ERA (3.50) and 1st in WHIP (1.17).
Getting the ball for Kansas City tonight will be Edinson Volquez, who is 8-4 with a 3.18 ERA on the year, while on the road he has gone 3-2 with a 3.14 ERA. Edinson has 8 career starts vs the Astros and he is a perfect 6-0 with a 2.09 ERA in those starts, while at Minute Maid park he is 3-0 with a 2.84 ERA in 4 starts.
Toeing the rubber for the Astros tonight will be Vincent Velasquez, who is making just his 5 career start. Hes has no wins or losses yet, but does have a 3.72 ERA in 4 starts this year. He has yet to face the Royals.
Pick: Going with the Royals in this game. I look for KC to salvage one game of this and a big reason is that they clearly have the edge on the mound here. Vincent Velasquez had a very nice first career starts vs the White Sox, but since then he has a 5.02 ERA in 3 starts. He will be taking on a KC offense that has sputtered in this series so far and I expect them to break out in this one. On the other side we have Edinson Volquez, who has pitched very well this year and is also 6-0 with a 2.09 ERA in 8 career starts vs the Astros. I feel the Royals have the clear edge on the mound and they should also have the added incentive to not being swept. Look for the royals to take this one.

Wanna Bet Ohio State Buckeyes Go Undefeated?
Las Vegas bettors Steve Fezzik and Scott Spreitzer talk about the mosnter favorites to win the 2015-2016 college football season, the Ohio State Buckeyes. Vegas is trying to convince bettors to wager that the reigning National Champions will go 12-0 in the 2015-16 season, but Fezzik explains that the math is more profitable for bettors to bet over 11 instead of over 11.5. Yes, the guys think this team, which has only lost one game in three years are more often than note gonna go undefeated, but they have better bets for Buckeye fans.
