Utah State Aggies vs San Jose State Spartans Start Time, Odds

Friday night college football, and we will see the Utah State Aggies travel to San Jose, California to take on the San Jose State Spartans. The start time is 9:00 pm (Eastern) and the game will be televised on ESPN. Current Odds have Utah State listed as 10 point favorites, while the total sits at 61.

Analysis: The Aggies come in at 2-2 on the year and have already equaled their losses they had last year, but make no mistake this is still a very good team. Both losses came on the road to Utah by 4 points and USC by 3 points, so they are very close to being 4-0 right now. Last week the Aggies ran into a very desperate USC squad and was shut down offensively, totaling just 285 yards of total offense and 106 yards on the ground. Chuckie Keeton had a sub par game, hitting just 53% of his pass and he was sacked 5 times, while the offense also lost 89 yards to 11 penalties. Just too much to overcome vs a stout USC defense, but still they nearly won the game. They stayed in that game thanks to a defense that allowed just 282 total yards, a 48% completion rate and just 3.0 ypc. The Aggies do play some good defense, as they are ranked 16th in total defense and 11th in passing defense, while allowing just 18.2 ppg on the young year. Utah State demolished the Spartans a season ago, 49-27, but still the Aggies trail in the all-time series, 20-14-1.

The Spartans check in at 1-2 on the year and are off a bad 43-24 loss at Minnesota, in a game that many gave them a chance to win. A big reason they did is because of QB David Fales, who is one of the best in the MWC. Fales threw for 439 yards and three scores on 22 of 35 passing in the game, but he also had two costly INTs. Chandler Jones caught seven of those passes for 197 yards and all three of the touchdowns that Fales threw. The Spartans are 24th in the nation in passing, but the lack of a running game (117th) has led to them averaging just 20.3 ppg, which is 98th in the nation. The Defense for the Spartans has been pretty good, ranking 50th overall and 14th vs the pass, but they are 103rd vs the run and that could be bad news vs Keeton & his Aggies in this one.

Pick: Will Be going with the Over in this one. San Jose's offense hasn't really put up a tone of points, but they do have the 24th ranked passing offense and will have to put up allot of points if they expect to stay with the high scoring Aggies in this one. Should be a fun one for the national audience as these teams combine for 65+ points here.
