The USC Trojans will take to the field on Thursday night at Hawaii to open their 2013 season. The 2013 College Football Predictions for this upcoming season have the Trojans as a middle of the pack team to contend for the BCS Championship this fall.
Lane Kiffin enters another year at the helm of the USC football program and it's a much different program than it was 10 years ago. They are one of the Top 25 teams (ranked 24th entering the year) that will open their season on Thursday night and they're playing in the late game. Hawaii welcomes in Kiffin's club Thursday in a game that is going to be televised on the CBS Sports Network.
USC is finally getting back to reality after all the sanctions and problems they've dealt with stemming from the Pete Carroll days. Remember, their depth has been an issue since Carroll left for the NFL because of lack of scholarships. They still have one season left of those scholarship deductions. Kiffin has been able to win 25 games during his four years.
The Trojans return 16 starters from a team that went 7-6 last year but they did lost to Georgia Tech in the Sun Bowl. This year they are the favorites to win the competitive South Division of the Pac-12 and they're 6/1 to win the conference outright. But they do have a pretty touch schedule. In conference they travel to Arizona State, Oregon State, Cal and Colorado. Two of their final three games of the season will see the Trojans take on Stanford and UCLA. Those final three games will determine their season.
