5Dimes USA Today Final Poll College Football Odds match-ups continue today with a pairing between defending ACC Champion Clemson and traditional power Nebraska. The offshore book prefers the Tigers in this match-up, listing Dabo Swinney’s squad as a -140 moneyline favorite ($140 to win $100) to finish ahead of the Huskers in the final USA Today Coaches Poll. Nebraska, which is entering its second year in the Big Ten, is drawing 1/1 odds to top Clemson in the season’s final USA Today rankings.

Clemson finished a disappointing 6-7 in 2010, Head Coach Dabo Swinney’s second year running the program, but it bounced back in a big way last year, winning the ACC title with a 38-10 stomping of Virginia Tech in the conference championship game.

Despite the Tigers ACC Championship and 7-2 conference run, they are not favored to win the conference in 2012. That distinction belongs to Florida State, a team some consider a favorite to win the BCS National Championship.

Clemson, with 14 starters and 48 lettermen back, should be in position to finish strong; however, three or four losses looks like a realistic possibility. The Tigers open against what should be an improved Auburn team and they close against another quality SEC team in South Carolina. Clemson also faces difficult conference foes in Florida State, Georgia Tech, Virginia Tech, and North Carolina State.

Nebraska, a team many thought would win the Big Ten Legends Division last season, is a second pick (+260), behind Michigan, to take the division in 2012. The Huskers finished up 9-4 a season ago after falling 13-30 to South Carolina in the Capital One Bowl.

Bo Pelini’s crew could best that total this year, despite a schedule that includes quality non-conference teams in Southern Miss and UCLA. The Huskers conference road is laden with traps as well with the team hosting Wisconsin and Michigan and traveling to Ohio State and Michigan State.
