Updated 2014 British Open Odds

Will 2nd-Round Jinx Ruin Rory McIlroy After Taking Lead at 2014 British Open?

Two full rounds are in the books for the 2014 British Open and Rory McIlroy has dominated both days. Now McIlroy is listed as the huge favorite in the Updated 2014 British Open Odds according to the books. Below are the full odds listed for the remaining tournament, with McIlroy drawing a lot of respect.

Updated 2014 British Open Odds

Rory McIlroy -125
Dustin Johnson +550
Sergio Garcia +1600
Louis Oosthuizen +2500
Rickie Fowler +1800
Adam Scott +2000
Ryan Moore +2500
Francesco Molinari +2500
Charl Schwartzel +2500
Jim Furyk +3000
Justin Rose +5000
George Coetzee +6000
Jimmy Walker +6000

Hideki Matsuyama +10000
Thomas Bjorn +10000
The Field +600

The above odds for the rest of the tournament are courtesy BetOnline, who have made McIlroy the only player drawing less than 1-to-1 odds to win the tournament. He has a four-shot lead and is in prime shape to run away with the Open title.

This will be the first time in the tournament's 154 year history that Saturday will feature pairings tee off from multiple holes. That's because the weather is expected to be a real problem Saturday at Royal Liverpool Golf Club in MerseysideEngland. McIlroy shot his second consecutive 66 on Friday, tearing up the course despite hitting it into the rough several times during the day.

Tiger Woods struggled off the tee himself, but found himself still alive after a terrible day. He had to birdie the 18th hole in order to finish the tournament with a score of +2, which was the eventual cut line. Now he finds himself with two extra days to play golf and continue to repair his image and get better from coming off injury. Obviously having back problems won't make it easy on the world's best player (when healthy), but he is looking forward to improving his game in the next two days.

Fellow American Dustin Johnson had an impressive round as well, firing a 65 as he dominated the course. Yet, despite having such an impressive day on the links, Johnson finds himself behind McIlroy by four shots. Those two will tee off at 6 a.m. Saturday morning, along with Francesco Molinari. They will begin their third round from the No. 1 tee.

Weather will have a major impact on the rest of this tournament, but McIlroy has put himself in a good position after breaking the mold of his recent Friday problems. If he continues to play solid and doesn't have a terrible round, he's going to win his first Open Championship.
