The UFC returns to Brazil tomorrow night for UFC Fight Night 36 at the Arena Jaragua in Jaragua do Sul. Headlining the event, which is scheduled to get underway at 10:30pm ET (coverage provided by UFC Fight Pass and Fox Sports 1), are middleweight title contenders Lyoto Machida and Gegard Mousasi. The latest UFC Odds from offshore bookmaker Sportsbook.ag are favoring Machida, the former UFC light heavyweight champion, to defeat Mousasi, who is making his second appearance inside the Octagon. "The Dragon" is drawing a -255 line ($255 wins $100) while Mousasi is listed at +195 odds ($100 wins $195).
Machida (20-4) made the move to the middleweight ranks last year after suffering a unanimous decision loss to Phil Davis at UFC 163. The former champion, who lost his belt to Mauricio Rua in 2010, could not have looked better as he took out a formidable Mark Munoz via first round knockout on October 26th.
Machida's win over Munoz was his third in his last four fights, signaling he still has quite a bit left in the tank. Many were wondering if "The Dragon" was, perhaps, finished after he lost to Jon Jones in a 2011 battle for the light heavyweight strap. Machida's defeat at the hands of Jones marked his third setback in four fights.
As for Mousasi, the former Strikeforce middleweight champion extended his current winning streak to four fights when he earned a unanimous decision victory over Ilir Latifi last April. The win improved Mousasi's professional MMA record to 34-3-2.
