The UFC is in Atlanta, Georgia tonight for UFC Fight Night 35. This evening's event, which is scheduled to get underway at 7:00pm ET at the Gwinnett Center, will be broadcast live on FOX Sports 1. Tonight's 12 fight card is being headlined by middleweight title contenders Luke Rockhold and Costas Philippou. Also on the main card is are middleweight scraps between Lorenz Larkin and Brad Tavares and Yoel Romero and Derek Brunson. UFC Fight Night Odds have Rockhold listed as a heavy -400 money line favorite ($400 wins $100) in his meeting with Philippou; Larkin and Romero are drawing favored status as well at -240 and -270 odds, respectively.
Luke Rockhold enters tonight's fight off the second loss of his career. The former Strikeforce middleweight made his UFC debut last May, but it did not go according to plan as he suffered a first round knockout at the hands of Vitor Belfort. The loss snapped a nine fight winning streak for the 29 years old California native.
Costas Philippou opened UFC stint with a unanimous decision loss to Nick Catone back in March of 2011, but the 34 year old New Yorker rebounded for the setback with five consecutive wins inside the Octagon. Among Philippou's victims were notable names Court McGee and Tim Boetsch.
However, like Rockhold, Philippou enters this evening's event off a loss. Francis Carmont scored a unanimous decision over the Cyprus native at UFC 165 last September, dropping his professional record to 12-3.
