Major League Baseball Betting Odds LA Dodgers vs San Francisco Giants Free Pick

Major League Baseball on Tuesday night and I will have a Free Pick in the game between the LA Dodgers and the San Francisco Giants, which will be played at AT&T Park in San Francisco. First pitch is scheduled for an 10:15 PM (Eastern) start time and the game will be televised locally.

Betting Odds

Dodgers                -110
Giants                  +100

Over/ Under: 7.5 U -120

This is game 1 of a 3 game series between these NL West foes. The LA Dodgers are off a 4 game series vs the Rockies in which they didn't play all that well in as they split the 4 games with the ML West's worst team. It was a bit shocking at the Rockies had lost 11 straight games prior to the series. Still LA is 24-13 on the year and lead the NL West by 4.5 games over the Giants. The Giants come in having won 3 games in a row at Cincinnati, in which they outscored the Reds by a 30-14 count in the 3 games. The Giants are now at 20-18 on the year, including 11-9 at home.

The Dodgers rank 3rd in scoring (5.03 rpg), 7th in hitting (.264) and 2nd in homers (54) while on the mound they are 4th in ERA (3.28) and 4th in WHIP (1.15). LA has gone 6-1 in their last 7 vs. a team with a winning record, 52-22 in their last 74 vs. the NL West and 21-7 in their last 28 after scoring 2 runs or less in their previous game.

San Francisco ranks 26 in scoring (3.82 rpg), 3rd in hitting (.269) and 25th in homers (28), while on the mound they are 10th in ERA (3.61) and 11th in WHIP (1.26). The Giants have gone 20-6 in their last 26 home games vs. a team with a losing road record and 7-1 in their last 8 after allowing 5 runs or more in their previous game, but just 1-6 in Hudson's last 7 home starts vs. a team with a winning overall record.

Getting the ball for the Dodgers tonight will be Carlos Frias, who is 3-0 with a 2.89 on the year overall. He has spent some time in the pen and is 2-0 with a 3.39 ERA in 3 starts for the year. Carlos has no prior starts vs the Giants.

Getting the ball for the Giants tonight will be Tim Hudson, who is 1-3 with a 4.57 ERA on the year overall, while at home he has gone 1-3 with a 5.74 ERA. Tim has 17 career starts vs the Dodgers and is 6-6 with a 4.03 ERA in those starts. Tim has really struggled vs the Dodgers since 2007, going 1-6 with a 4.62 ERA in 10 starts over that stretch.

Pick: I will look to the Under in this game. Carlos Frias has pitched well for the Dodgers so far but he does have a 3.31 ERA in his 3 starts, plus a 4.50 ERA in his lone road starts, so he will give up some runs and the Giants offense should come in with some confidence after putting up 30 runs in their last 3 games. Tim Hudson has not really pitched well this year as he has a 4.57 ERA overall and a 5.74 ERA at home. Last year Tim faced the Dodgers once in this park and he allowed 6 ERs in just 1 inning off a 17-0 blowout loss. He should have problems in this one vs a Dodgers offense that is 3rd in the league in scoring ad that has averaged 5.7 rpg in their last 10 games. Both teams had the day off yesterday, so both teams should have their offensive starters in there and those players should put up at 4 runs each in this one.
