The LA Angels are hot right now as they have won 7 of their last 8 games, which includes a 3 game road sweep of the Rangers in which they outscored them 33-8 in the 3 game set. The Halos are now 44-38 on the year and have closed the gap in the AL West to just 3 games behind Houston. The Rockies have not been playing good ball at all as they have won lust 2 of their last 9 games and they have struggled at home this year, where they are just 17-22. This is going to be a long second half for Colorado I feel.
The Angels rank 16th in scoring (4.10 rpg), 22nd in hitting (.248) and 9th in homers (85), while on the mound they are 11th in ERA (3.63) and 7th in WHIP (1.20). Colorado ranks 7th in scoring (4.40 rpg), 5th in hitting (.266) and 7th in homers (91), while on the mound they are 30th in ERA (4.88) and 30th in WHIP (1.48).
Getting the ball for the Angels tonight will be Andrew Heaney, who is 1-0 with a 1.38 ERA in 2 starts this year. Both starts have come at home and he has yet to face the Rockies in his brief career.
Taking the hill for the Rockies tonight will be Chad Bettis, who is 4-3 with a 3.67 ERA in 10 starts this year, while at home he has gone 2-1 with a 2.84 ERA. Chad has never faced the Halos in his career.
Pick: Going with the Halos in this one. The Halos finally broke out offensively in their three game road sweep of the Rangers, scoring a whopping 33 runs in the three games. Now they head to an even friendlier hitting park and will face a team with the worst ERA in the league. Another plus for the Angels is that they will be playing a Colorado team that is coming home off a 10 game road trip and situationaly this is a bad spot for teams. The Rockies overall are playing bad ball right now, while the Angels are closing in on the Houston Astros and they can't let these easy games get away. The Rockies have scored just 3.3 rpg in their last 10 games and will now take on Andrew Heaney, who has a 1.38 ERA and an 0.69 WHIP in his first two start inn his career. The Rockies are a good offensive team, but off the long trip they should be a bit sluggish in their first game back, while we also note that the Rockies have allowed 5.69 rpg at home for the year. I feel the Halos will be able to pad their offensive stats in this series and it starts with a solid win in game one.

Will Money Laundering Dirty Phil Mickelson's Name & Game?
After ESPN's Outside the Lines broke news that Phil Mickelson is connected to a multi-million dollar money laundering and sports betting case involving former sports tout Greg Silveira, the media started having a field day. Mickelson, who has been connected to sports betting before as well as insider trading allegations, runs the risk of getting his clean cut reputation tarnished with the news, plus it could result in more golf struggle after a lackluster US Open performance in 2015. Is it time to fade Lefty?
