The Kansas State Wildcats will meet the Oregon Ducks in the 2013 Tostitos Fiesta Bowl, which is scheduled to get underway at 8:30pm ET on Thursday, January 3rd at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona (ESPN). Kansas State Wildcats vs. Oregon Ducks Tostitos Fiesta Bowl odds have Chip Kelly’s high flying Ducks listed as a -9 against the spread favorite. The Over/Under in this contest is presently set at 77 points.
No one, not a soul, predicted that Kansas State would win the Big 12 this season and earn a spot in a BCS bowl game. The Wildcats apparently did not get the memo as they stormed through the conference, finishing 11-1 overall and 8-1 in league play to capture the Big 12 title.
Now Bill Snyder’s troops are considered a long shot to beat the PAC-12’s offensive tsunami, Oregon, in what is, perhaps, the most intriguing BCS bowl matchup.
There is reason to doubt the Wildcats chances, especially after their loss to Baylor, a team that employs a similar offensive approach to Kelly’s fast break attack. The chief reason to question K-State, though, is Oregon itself.
The Ducks also finished the regular season with an 11-1 record and an 8-1 conference mark, and their only loss came against a Stanford team that features one of the nation’s top defenses.
Nonetheless, Kansas State should not be dismissed as it has thrived under Snyder in an underdog role, posting an 8-2 against the spread record in its last 10 games getting points.
