The Cleveland Cavaliers welcome the Toronto Raptors to the Quicken Loans Arena tonight as they look to notch their fourth win in five games. Start time in this evening’s Eastern Conference clash between the Cavs and Raptors is set for 7:00pm ET. The latest NBA Odds have Cleveland, which could be without star point guard Kyrie Irving for a second straight night, listed as a +3 against the spread home underdog (+125 moneyline or $100 wins $125). The total in tonight’s game is set at 199 points.
The Cavaliers earned, arguably, their biggest win of the season last night, beating the division rival Bulls 101-98 in Chicago. Cleveland, which had dropped 11 straight to Chicago, got a nice fill-in effort from point guard Shaun Livingston as well as a standout performance from rookie Dion Waiters in the win.
Livingston, who started in place of the injured Kyrie Irving, finished the game with 15 points, two rebounds, and two assists while Waiters scored a team high 25 points on 10-of-16 shooting.
Despite the Cavs gutty win and recent play (6-4 last 10 games), they come into tonight’s contest a three point home dog. Obviously, the spread has much to do with Irving’s iffy status, but it also has something to do with the Toronto.
The Raptors, who are an ugly 23-34 overall, closed out a three game home stand with a 90-84 loss to an improving Washington team on Monday; however, they are 6-2 in their last eight games.
Toronto has also played well away from home of late, winning four of its last five outside the confines of the Air Canada Centre. Additionally, the Raptors are a perfect 3-0 on the road since acquiring Rudy Gay from the Grizzlies, topping the Pacers, Knicks, and aforementioned Wizards.
Free Pick: Take the Raptors -3. The Cavaliers are 0-10 both straight up and against the spread in their last 10 games as a home dog with a spread between 0 and 3.5 points.
