The New York Giants play host to the Washington Redskins in Thursday Night Football action. The game is scheduled for an 8:25 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on CBS and the NFL Network. Currently the NFL Odds for the game have the Giants favored by more than a field goal to pick up the win.
The Giants have been a mess through two games this season. They should have beaten the Cowboys and Falcons, but had some big miscues. With the two defeats, the Giants became the first team in NFL history to lead the opening two games of the year by double digits in the fourth quarter and lose both.
Washington has its own problems, but found a way to win by a couple of scores over the St. Louis Rams last weekend. The quick turnaround for both teams will test their depth, but playing at home should benefit the Giants a bit more than Washington.
The Redskins scored 17 first half points in last week’s win and the defense played well enough the final two quarters to secure the win. Kirk Cousins was very efficient in the win, completing 23-of-27 passes for 203 yards and a score. The Redskins also found a nice back in Matt Jones, the rookie from Florida who ran for 123 yards on 19 carries with a couple of touchdowns in the win.
The Giants have been able to score, dating back to the final six games last year Eli Manning has led the G-Men to an average of just under 28 points per contest. New York needs to establish a run game in this one, which has been lacking a bit for them so far this year. Throwing it to Odell Beckham Jr. is great and all, but it hasn’t helped them win a game yet this year.
Tom Coughlin’s team is favored in this one for a reason. The Giants need a victory and they’ll get one here at home.
