The New York Giants can't finish with an NFC East title unless the Dallas Cowboys find a way to lose their final two games of the season. New York owns a pair of victories over the currently top-seeded Cowboys this season and both look impressive to date.
Philadelphia was expected to be better this season after the emergence of QB Carson Wentz, but they have really fallen on some tough times at 5-9. Last week they went for two and the win over the Baltimore Ravens and failed, it was their fifth consecutive loss.
The defense has been awesome for the Giants this season. They have out-scored opponents by 108 points this season, which ranks third-best in the NFL this year. They just held the Lions to a couple of field goals last week in a 17-6 win and held the Cowboys to just even points the week before.
Philly isn't a terrible offense, averaging better than 22 points per game, but the defense allowing 21.4 points per game themselves makes for no real room for error. The recent loss streak has seen the Eagles score more points, but continue to play poorly enough to end up on the wrong end of the decision.
So here we are, one team with a chance to make the playoffs in the Giants, who would earn an 11th victory on the season. Philly can really only play spoilers at this point as the Giants look to clinch a playoff spot for the first time since 2011.
The first game in this matchup was close with a Giants 28-23 win. Eli Manning threw for four touchdowns in that one, including two to Odell Beckham Jr. Eight different receivers caught a pass in that game as well and the Giants pretty much abandoned the run game, which they have been doing quite a bit this season.
New York is hot right now. The Eagles are still trying to figure things out and get back on track, plus they have some incentive tonight to win, but the Giants are too strong.
