Texas Tech at Oklahoma (odds -29) Start Time 8:00PM ABC: One would think an explosive team like TTRR that averages 44 PPG would have a shot as 4 TD DOG. LY, 45-7 on this field with an OK defense which was not as good as this one. This year, the Sooners allow just 16 PPG, 317 yards, and 4.6 YP Play. Clearly no one is going to stop their offense. They’ve added a running component, good for 174/4.7. And they’ve improved a passing attack that is now averaging 374/ 8.4 behind QB Jones. Running an average of 82 plays, they are averaging 45 PPG. A further way in which they have dominated their opponents has been a 20/3 sack ratio, the best in the nation. Free Pick on Texas Tech and Oklahoma: In a series where the home team has covered five straight games and the Sooners are 19-9 ATS on this field, look for a resounding victory as the Sooners roll up the style
Army at Vanderbilt (odds -10 ½) Start Time 7:00PM ESPNU: Rarely do we fade a service academy option attack in the midst of a foe's conference season. But this looks like a great spot. Army has been the ultimate home road dichotomy this year. The home team is a perfect 6-0 ATS in their contests. That includes 3 road losses at MAC schools in which they have allowed a combined 132 pts, or 43 PPG. At 3-3 SU, on a 3 game losing streak, to quality SEC foes Georgia, AL and SC, Vandy will enjoy stepping down in class to find somebody to rip. Remember, this was a team good enough to beat Mississippi 30-7 on this field the last time they were the superior team. Under first year HC Franklin, Vandy has a more aggressive, edgier, attitude. They will enjoy the chance to dominate an inferior foe.
Nebraska (odds -24) at Minnesota Start Time 3:30PM ABCTV: The Nebraska defense has a lot to prove. In their last two outings they have allowed Big Ten foes Ohio State and Wisonsin to score a combined 75 pts. Now they have two wks to prepare for one of the weakest teams in the league. This is a Minnesota team that is averaging only 18 PPG under first year HC Kill. They are clearly in rebuilding mode. QB Gray (turf toe) has been in and out of the lineup and they have played a plethora of true Freshman. Their failure at the point of attack is characterized by their 5/14 sack ratio. The Huskers have had two wks to prepare for this. They clearly need a feel good win. Despite the Gophers miserable season, this line is little higher than where it would have been opening week because of the Huskers 1-5 ATS record.
