No. 5 Missouri will attempt to lock up the SEC East tonight when it closes out its regular season slate opposite No. 21 Texas A&M at Faurot Field in Columbia. This evening's meeting between the Tigers and Aggies is scheduled to kickoff at 7:45pm ET; the game will be broadcast live on ESPN. Gary Pinkel's Tigers are favored at -4.5 against the spread in the latest College Football Odds. Tonight's game total is set at 70.2 points.
Other than the Iron Bowl, tonight's meeting between Missouri and Texas A&M is the biggest game on the schedule. The Tigers can secure the SEC East and SEC Championship Game berth with a win over Texas A&M while also keeping their faint BCS Championship hopes alive.
Getting past the Aggies is no easy task, though, especially after they drubbing they received in Baton Rouge last weekend. Johnny Manziel, who is still alive in the Heisman chase, and his cohorts are not in the running for a BCS bowl bid, but the last thing they want to do is finish the regular season with back to back losses.
Conversely, A&M faces an even more difficult challenge in overcoming the Tigers. This is a mammoth game for this Missouri team, but also the Missouri program, which would benefit greatly from an SEC Championship Game appearance in just its second year in the conference.
And aside from motivations, this Tigers team is really good both offensively and defensively. Mizzou should have little difficulty dissecting an Aggies defense that is allowing over 460 total yards, 221 rush yards, and 31 points per game.
Missouri's defense also ranks 15th in points per game allowed (19.3), 11th in rush yards per game allowed (113.2), and seventh in sacks (35).
Notable Trends: The Tigers are 10-0 straight up and 5-3-2 against the spread (3-0-1 last four) in their last 10 games as a home favorite with a total of 54.5 or more points. Texas A&M is 1-5 against the spread in its last six games as a road dog with a total of 54.5 or more points in the month of November.
