The top two picks in the NFL Draft take to the field in the same game on Sunday when the Tennessee Titans are at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The game is scheduled for a 4:25 p.m. start time and it will be televised live on CBS. Currently the odds for the game have the Bucs favored to pick up the victory.
It’s nice that we get to see Marcus Mariota and Jameis Winston take to the field against each other in the opening week. The two projected franchise quarterbacks have been through the off-season, the preseason and all the media hype. Now it’s time for them to showcase what they have during NFL games that count.
Tampa Bay, playing at home, should be fired up to open the season. The Buccaneers have some tough games coming up on the schedule the next three weeks, so playing well and picking up a win over visiting Tennessee would get them off on the right foot for the season.
Tennessee won the most recent matchup between these two teams, back in 2011, 23-17. Josh Freeman was the quarterback for the Bucs back then, Tampa Bay faithful are hoping Winston will be a better quarterback during his tenure.
Mariota doesn’t have the best receivers at his disposal, but Tennessee believes they have some depth at that position that can help the offense. Handing it off to Bishop Sankey is also one way to help the Titans move the football.
Tampa Bay will also like running the football with Doug Martin and company. Mike Evans proved last year he can be a stud at receiver and having Vincent Jackson is a positive for Winston as well.
Tampa Bay looks to be the better offensive team. The defense will make enough plays to help the offense out; Winston wins the battle of these first two picks.
