Tampa Bay Rays vs Boston Red Sox ALDS Game 2 Odds

Game 1 of the ALDS takes place tonight and we will see the Tampa Bay Rays take on the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park in Boston. First pitch is scheduled for a 5:37 PM (Eastern) start time and the game will be televised on TBS.

Current Odds

Tampa Bay    -115
Boston          +105

Over/ Under: 7.5 O -115

Analysis: Tampa Bay really took in on the chin yesterday with a 12-2 loss in game 1. Tampa Bay did get out to a 2-0 lead on solo homers by Zobrist and Rodriguez, but then the Boston offense flexed it's muscles and ran off the next 12 runs. Sean Rodriguez did have trouble judging balls off the “Green Monster” and rookie Wil Myers let a fly ball drop on the warning track in deep right-center field, leading to big innings for the Red Sox. Looking to even the series at 1 will be David Price, who was 10-8 with a 3.33 ERA on the year. Price pitched Tampa Bay into the playoffs by holding the Texas Rangers to two runs on seven hits in a complete game on Monday, and he is 1-3 with a 3.96 ERA in his postseason career. Price is 6-1 with a 1.88 ERA in 10 career starts in this park.

The biggest worry for the Sox heading into the series was rust, but that didn't happen as they pounded out 14 hits and put up 12 runs in game 1. Every Red Sox starter recorded at least one hit in Game 1, and seven different players had at least one RBI, while the Red Sox have now recorded 41 straight stolen bases without being caught. Lackey last pitched at Colorado on Sept. 24 and struggled to a 4.98 ERA in five starts over the final month of the regular season. Lackey is making his first postseason appearance since 2009 and is 3-4 with a 3.12 ERA in 14 career playoff games - 12 starts. John is also just 1-3 with a 7.11 ERA in his last 5 starts vs the Rays.

Pick: I will go with the Over in this one. I know that Price has great numbers vs Boston, but this if rust was going to factor in to Boston it would have been yesterday. This offense is clicking and they always hit well at home. Price does have a 3.98 ERA in his post season career and he has a 3.11 ERA on the road, with his road starts averaging 9.00 rpg. John Lackey has pitched well at home this year with a 2.47 ERA. but he has a 7.11 ERA in his last 5 starts vs the Rays and in 2 starts vs them this year he allowed 9 ER's in 10 innings. I look for the Rays to tag him for a few here. This one should reach DD.
