The Buccaneers were one of the league’s big surprises in 2010, posting a 10-6 record on the heels of a 3-13 campaign. Tampa Bay was not able to build on their unexpected success, falling back to 4-12 last season after quarterback Josh Freeman turned the ball over 27 times. Josh Freeman, who is entering his fourth NFL season, played a big role in the Buccaneers dramatic 2010 turnaround as he threw for 3451 yards and 25 touchdowns. Freeman, more importantly, threw just six interceptions are tossing 18 in his rookie season. Unfortunately for the Kansas State product, who completed 4-of-5 passes for 41 yards in the Bucs week one preseason win over the Dolphins, his ball security issues (22 interceptions, five fumbles) returned last season and the results of his turnover woes were evident in the team’s record
Freeman’s regression was not the only problem for the Bucs last season, though. Tampa Bay ranked 30th in yards per game allowed (394.4) and it was dead last in points per game allowed, yielding an average of 30.9 per contest.
Cantor Gaming sees these problems continuing for the Buccaneers in 2012, despite the off-season additions of players like Vincent Jackson, Dallas Clark, Mark Barron (rookie), Doug Martin (rookie), Carl Nicks, and Eric Wright. The Las Vegas based book maker, which released point spreads for weeks one through 16 of the 2012 NFL regular season schedule, has Tampa Bay favored in just three of 15 games.
