This year's Home Run Derby should be a good one. Reigning NL MVP Christian Yelich had to pull out of the event because of an injury and the Oakland A's Matt Chapman was selected to replace him. For the first time this year, the winner of the derby will win $1 million.
Once again, it's going to be bracket play for the derby. The opening rounds will feature Oakland's Chapman against Toronto's Vlad Guerrero Jr. in the one-eight matchup. In the four-five matchup Alex Bregman of Houston will take on Joc Pederson of the LA Dodgers. On the opposite side, the Mets' Pete Alonso will face off against Carlos Santana of the Indians. Pittsburgh's Josh Bell, the favorite, will face Ronald Acuna Jr. of the Braves in the three-six matchup.
