This evening's Sunday Night Football clash between the Chiefs and Broncos is most certainly the game of the week and, in all probability, the game of the year, at least to this point, given the current standing of the two teams. The two AFC West rivals are 9-0 and 8-1 and fighting not only for the division lead, but also the No. 1 overall seed in the AFC. Despite Kansas City's unblemished record, the odds makers at 5Dimes are expecting Peyton Manning and company to cruise to an easy win. The Broncos are listed as a -7.5 NFL Point Spreads home favorite and they are drawing a -335 money line ($335 wins $100). The total in tonight's game, which is scheduled to kickoff at 8:30pm ET on NBC, is set at 49 points.

Teams often search for motivational tools, regardless of what they might say, to get up for an opponent. Of course, one of the favorites and most relied upon is the no respect card. This gets played more than any other regardless of whether or not it is true in many cases.

Well, in the case of the Chiefs, they can legitimately use the no respect card. Kansas City has been labeled the worst 9-0 team in history, a smoke and mirrors operation, a product of a soft schedule, a benefactor of opponent injury, etc.

None of this is good for the Broncos because the Chiefs seems to believe, regardless of what is being said, that they are good. And, based upon their incredible run this season, they are at least one thing and that is a winner. Kansas City knows how to win and it knows how to win close games and there are no labels, opinions, etc. that influence the win/loss column.

The Chiefs also know a thing or two about playing defense. Kansas City, which is coming off a week of rest, has given up some big plays but it limits them more often than not. No team in the league has kept opponents out of the end zone like the Chiefs and that makes tonight's game so intriguing because no team in the league gets the ball in the end zone like the Broncos.

Yes, this is a classic offense versus defense matchup, but in all reality, the game may be decided when Kansas City's offense has the ball. Although the Chiefs offense has experienced its share of up and downs this season, it has routinely put together late scoring drives and held the ball enough on enough occasions to provide its defense with quality rest. If it can do that tonight Kansas City stands a good chance at not only covering this rather large number, but also pulling off the upset.
