The rivalry between the Dallas Cowboys and the New York Giants opens up this season of Sunday Night Football. The game is scheduled for an 8:30 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on NBC. Currently the football odds for the game have the Cowboys comfortably favored to pick up the victory.
This is the best way to start Sunday Night Football this week, this is the third time in four years that the two rivals have opened the season against each other. The Giants and the Cowboys are always having entertaining games and we all remember Odell Beckham Jr.’s amazing catch last year, against the Cowboys, in primetime.
There are stars all over the field, and not just the ones on the Dallas helmets. Both teams are hunting for the NFC East title, an honor that went to the Cowboys a season ago. If they did win the division it’d be the first time in 11 years someone won back-to-back division titles.
Tony Romo and Eli Manning are both lightning rod quarterbacks that are often marred by displeasure among the fanbase of their respective teams. But in reality both can be excellent quarterbacks that have big targets on the outside.
Dez Bryant signed a big new deal and he could be getting a lot more targets now that Dallas let DeMarco Murray go. Surely Dallas is going to want to continue to run the football behind that massive offensive line, but they have several question marks back there. Bryant is a sure-thing and has proven he can be one of the best. Romo to Bryant could happen often in this one.
The Giants are a bit banged up, Victor Cruz won’t play tonight and the defense is still dealing with the problems stemming from Jason Piere-Paul. However if the Giants can put pressure on Romo and the Cowboys, especially if they struggle to run the football, it could cause Dallas some issues.
This should be a close game, Dallas is favored by about a touchdown but the Giants are looking forward to the fresh new start. Manning will have some big numbers tonight and the Giants are going to keep this one interesting.
