Sunday Night Baseball Tampa Bay Rays at Los Angeles Dodgers

Sunday night baseball and we will see the Tampa Bay Rays take on the Los Angeles Dodgers at Chavez Ravine in Los Angeles. First pitch is scheduled for an 8:05 PM (Eastern) start time and the game will be televised on ESPN.

Current Odds

Tampa Bay      +168
Los Angeles     -195

Over/ Under: 6 O -120

Analysis: The Tampa Bay Rays had a 6 run lead over the Dodgers (6-3 in the ninth) on Friday and they lost that game. They followed that up last night with a 5-0 loss and they how have failed to score in 13 straight innings vs Dodgers pitching. The Rays have now lost 6 of 8 since their 21-4 run in the month of July and during their current 4 game losing streak they have allowed 27 runs. Trying to stop the bleeding today for the Rays will be Jeremy Hellickson, who is 10-5 with a 4.77 ERA on the year. Jeremy had won 6 in a row before consecutive losses to Arizona. During a recent 7 game unbeaten stretch, he had allowed just 10 total runs. Hellickson is now just 1-5 with a 6.89 ERA in 9 career interlegue starts.

Los Angeles comes in having won four in a row and nine of 10, while they are a major league-best 19-3 since the All-Star break. Los Angeles is also 11-0-4 in their last 15 series. This team is flat out rolling right now. Adrian Gonzalez ended a 16-game homerless drought Saturday and Nick Punto singled in two runs in the Dodgers 5-0 win yesterday. Nick Punto is batting .500 (9-for-18) in August and 2B Skip Schumaker is 9-for-14 in his last three games after having a four-hit outing on Saturday. The Dodgers are one of the hottest teams in baseball, but they still don't give Clayton much run sport, giving him just 3.2 rpg on the year. Yasiel Puig remains hot going 14 for 31 in his last 9 games, while also posting an .595 OBP during the month of August so far. Clayton Kershaw has pitched well at home with 1.59 ERA but lack of run support has his record at just 6-4 at Chavez Ravine. Overall he leads the majors in ERA (1.91) and teams are hitting just .188 off of him.

Pick: I like the Under in this game. The Dodgers just don't score for Clayton at all and he doesn't give up allot at home, with a 1.59 ERA. Tampa bay hasn't scored in 13 straight innings and it will be hard for them to put up much here. Hellickson had a nice recent run and he should get back to pitching well vs an LA team that doesn't score a whole lot for Kershaw. Look for a nice pitchers duel in LA tonight.
