Sunday Night Baseball Betting Odds Kansas City Royals vs Detroit Tigers Free Pick

Sunday night baseball and we will see the Kansas City Royals travel to Comerica to take on the Detroit Tigers in game 1 of their 3 game series. Free Pick to follow. First pitch is scheduled for a 8:05 PM (Eastern) start time and the game will be televised on ESPN.

Betting Odds

Royals             -105
Tigers              -105

Over/ Under: 7.5 0 -115

This is game 3 of a 3 game series between these division rivals. In game 1 of this series the Royals bullpen blew a late late and Detroit won the game in the bottom of the 9. In game 2 it was pretty much all KC from the beginning as they won the game 6-2. Kansas City has now gone 19-11 on the year, while Detroit comes in having lost 5 of their last 9 games and is 19-12 on the year.

Kansas City ranks 2nd in scoring (5.13 rpg), 1st in hitting (.295) and 20th in homers (24) while on the mound they are 6th in ERA (3.35) and 5th in WHIP (1.15). The Royals have gone 24-9 in their last 33 games vs. a right-handed starter and 31-12 in their last 43 when their opponent scores 2 runs or less in their previous game, but just 9-19 in the last 28 meetings in Detroit.

Detroit ranks 12th in scoring (4.42 rpg), 2nd in hitting (.276) and 18th in homers (25), while on the mound they are 16th in ERA (4.02) and 14th in WHIP (1.26). Detroit has gone 10-4 in their last 14 games vs. a team with a winning % above .600 and 17-8 in their last 25 vs. the AL Central, but just 1-4 in their last 5 home games vs. a team with a winning road record.

Getting the ball tonight for Kansas City will be Chris Young, who is 2-0 with a 1.06 ERA in 7 games (1 start) this year. In his lone start he beat Detroit 4-1 at home, allowing 0 ERs in 5 innings of work in the game. Chris is 66-52 with a 3.76 ERA in his career as a starter. He is 3-0 with a 1.42 ERA in 5 career starts vs the Tigers, including 1-0 with a 2.08 ERA in 2 starts at Comerica.

Getting the ball for the Tigers tonight will be Shane Geene, who is 3-2 with a 5.56 ERA on the year. Shane has really struggled of late as he is 0-2 with a 16.36 ERA and a 2.64 WHIP in his last 3 starts. Greene has one start vs the Royals in his career (last year) and he lost that game 2-0, but allowed 0 ER in 5 innings of work in that game.

Pick: I will be going with the Over here. Shane Green has been awful of late and will be taking on one of the better offensive teams in the league. His struggles should continue here. Chris Young has been solid in the early going, but this detroit offense can explode at any time and I expect them to do just that tonight in front of the National TV Audience. THis one has the feel of a slugfest.
