The Tennessee Titans and Buffalo Bills, two teams looking to build on last week’s underdog wins, square off today at Ralph Wilson Stadium in upstate New York (1:00pm ET start time, CBS). Sunday NFL Predictions are favoring the hosting Bills at -3 against the spread; the game total is set at 46.5 points. Tennessee is drawing +160 odds ($100 wins $160) to win today’s AFC battle outright.
The struggling Titans showed some signs of life last Thursday, scoring their second win of the season with a 26-23 upset of the Steelers at LP Field in Nashville. Unfortunately for 2-4 Tennessee, it will not play today’s game at home where it is 2-1 on the season.
The Titans have been abysmal on the road this year going 0-3 while being outscored 106-31. While Buffalo may be Tennessee’s weakest host yet (San Diego, Houston, Minnesota), it is capable of putting points on the scoreboard in bunches.
When the Bills’ Ryan Fitzpatrick is given time to throw the ball, something he should be afford today given the Titans weak pass rush (eight sacks this season), he is a viable NFL quarterback.
This is evident in Buffalo’s results against non-top ten defenses as it posted 115 points (28.8 ppg) in those four games while Fitzpatrick tossed 12 touchdowns to seven interceptions (93.8 passer rating). In the Bills two games against powerhouse defenses they managed all of 21 points while Fitzpatrick threw zero touchdowns to one interception (63.2 passer rating).
With Tennessee in town the serviceable Fitzpatrick and the more potent Bills should show up. When that happens, particularly against teams at or near the level of the Titans, Buffalo usually have no trouble getting the win.
Free Pick: Take the Bills -3.
