The Green Bay Packers open up the season on the road in NFL Football action when they take on the Chicago Bears. The game is scheduled for a 1:00 p.m. start time and it will be televised live on FOX. Currently the odds for the game have the Packers favored by almost a touchdown to pick up the victory.
The Packers are a bit banged up coming into this one, most notably without Jordy Nelson at receiver. Aaron Rodgers will have to find someone else this season with his favorite target out, and even without Nelson playing in this one the Packers are still a comfortable favorite on the road.
Home underdogs around a touchdown are usually worth looking into, but the Bears are projected to be one of the more struggling teams in the league this year.
The Packers have really gotten the best of Chicago in recent years, winning seven of the eight matchups, many of those of comfortable margin. Bears fans seem to be fed up with quarterback Jay Cutler, but the gunslinger will begin another season as the main signal caller for Chicago, he’ll be throwing to a group of receivers now that doesn’t include Brandon Marshall. And it could be a problem right away as Alshon Jeffery, Eddie Royal and Marquess Wilson are all questionable to start in this one. If they’re all banged up, the Bears are in for a tough day.
Getting the football to Matt Forte on a consistent basis will certainly be the gameplan, but with several key guys out and inconsistent play at quarterback, Green Bay looks solid here.
