The Detroit Tigers welcome in the Chicago White Sox again this afternoon in Major League Baseball action. The game is scheduled for a 1:08 p.m. start time and it will be televised live on MLB.tv. Currently the odds for the game have the Tigers favored to pick up the win in this one at home.
Detroit and Chicago were one of three games on the Major League slate to be postponed by rain Saturday.
The Tigers will send Kyle Ryan, a spot starter, to the mound in this one. Ryan was supposed to start Saturday night's game but will still get the ball in this one against the Sox He's 1-1 with a 4.56 ERA so far this season in three starts plus some work out of the bullpen. Back earlier this month Ryan threw against the White Sox, tossing seven innings and allowing just two earned runs on three hits.
Current White Sox have a .200 average against him in 40 plate appearances. Avisail Garcia has homered off of him, Jose Abreu and Alexei Ramirez also have had success.
The White Sox were going to send John Danks to the mound on Saturday. They've switched things around and Jeff Samardzija will start in today's game. He's 5-4 with a 4.53 ERA this season and current Tigers have some solid numbers against him in their careers, hitting for an average of .278 in 97 plate appearances. Yoenis Cespedes has homered twice in 10 at bats, J.D. Martinez has also homered while Ian Kinsler has four hits in 12 at bats.
Detroit will be looking to start to piece together some wins, but it won't be easy against Samardzija. He's made three starts against the Tigers this season, two have been solid while the last start against them saw him surrender six earned runs. That'll be the difference in this one, if the Tigers can hit him again for a second straight start, they pick up the win.
