Street Life is a contender for the 2012 Belmont Stakes. His odds are currently at 15-1 and he will start in Postion #1. Jockey Jose Lezcano will ride Street Life, who is 2-0-1 in 5 career races. The 2012 Belmont Stakes start time and official post time is 6:35pm ET this Saturday from Belmont Park in Elmont, New York. This is the 144th running of the Belmont Stakes was to be highlighted by I'll Have Another , who was attempting to become only the twelfth Triple Crown winner in history, but has been scratched for this race.
Street Life has a career earnings of &114,405. His Trainer is Chad Brown and his pedigree is By Street Sense out of a Grindstone mare (Stone Hope). Street Life rebounded from a disappointing sixth-place ?nish in the Grade 1 Wood Memorial at Aqueduct in April to run a promising third in the Grade 2 Peter Pan Stakes over 1 1/8 miles at Belmont Park on May 12. Street Life wore blinkers for the ?rst time in his ?ve-race career in the Peter Pan and ran well through the ?nal furlong to ?nish 1 3/4 lengths behind the well-regarded Mark Valeski. However, He has yet to win a graded stakes. His lone stakes win was the minor Broad Brush Stakes over 1 1/16 miles at Aqueduct in March. The sixth-place ?nish in the Wood Memorial, his only start in a Grade 1, ended any chance of a Kentucky Derby start. In the Wood, he was beaten 7 3/4 lengths by Gemologist. Street Life is a stone cold closer, which means he's a horse that generally does very little running in the early stages and attempts to pass the leaders inside the final furlongs. That might be a difficult running style to successfuly utilize in the Belmont due to what is shaping up to be a very soft pace scenario. One factor that makes Street Life a dangerous horse in the Belmont is that he appears to be improving with each and every start this spring. He is a well-bred and talented colt that is on the upswing.
As of friday morning the updated Belmont Stakes Odds are: #1 Street Life (12-1), #2 Unstoppable U (30-1) #3 Union Rags (6-1), #4 Atigun (30-1), #5 Dullahan (5-1), #6 Ravelo's Boy (50-1), #7 Five Sixteen (50-1), #8 Guyana Star Dweej (50-1), #9 Paynter (8-1), #10 Optimizer (20-1), #11 I'll Have Another (4-5) (Scratched) and #12 My Adonis (20-1).
