Sunday afternoon in CBB we will see the Vanderbilt Commodores take on the top ranked Kentucky Wildcats in the Finals of the SEC Tournament. The game is scheduled for a 1 pm tipoff and will be televised live on ABC.  Currently Kentucky is favored by 7.5 points with the total being set at 137.5 for the game.  The top-ranked team in the nation is also one of the last teams standing before the beginning of the NCAA Tournament, as the Kentucky Wildcats take on the Vanderbilt Commodores in the title game of the 53rd annual SEC Tournament at New Orleans Arena this afternoon.

Free Analysis:  Third-seeded Vanderbilt, which entered Saturday's action a mere 1-10 all-time in SEC Tournament semifinal matchups and was just 33-49 in the tourney all- time, took care of business against Ole Miss with a 65-53 victory yesterday. Losers of two of the final three regular season outings, the Commodores dropped a total of 10 games this season, three of them in overtime. After tying the score with Ole Miss at 32-32 on a free throw by John Jenkins at the 14:12 mark of the second half, the Commodores put together a 14-5 run in order to take the lead for good and eventually cruise to the double-digit victory yesterday. Jenkins led the way with 23 points as he knocked down 5-of-13 shots from long distance, followed by Brad Tinsley with 12 points as he converted three triples. Working the inside was Lance Goulbourne who logged a double- double with 10 points and 12 rebounds. A starter in all 32 games in which he has appeared this season, Jenkins is not only the top scorer for the team with 20.0 ppg, he is also the top producer in the SEC. What makes him such an incredible weapon is his three-point accuracy, making good on 126-of-278 (.453). Jeffrey Taylor, who checks in as the only other double-digit scorer with 16.3 ppg, is also a three-point sniper with his 61-of-142 effort. Vanderbilt has converted a collective 288 three-pointers this season.The Commodores are the only team in the SEC with a trio of 1,000-point scorers: Jenkins, Taylor and Brad Tinsley.  Twice this season, Vanderbilt has pushed No. 1 Kentucky to the final minutes before losing. The Commodores get another chance when they make their first SEC tournament final appearance in 61 years. Kentucky is riding a 24-game SU win streak, but that almost ended Saturday against Florida. The ‘Cats trailed by five points with 10:43 left before going on a 14-0 run to put away the game. They are now 2-5 ATS in their past seven contests. Four Kentucky players scored 15+ points against the Gators, as freshman C/F Anthony Davis had 15 points and 12 rebounds. Davis scored a career-high 28 points (10-of-11 FG) with 11 boards and five blocks in the Feb. 25 win over Vanderbilt. Sophomore F Terrence Jones has played much better down the stretch this season, and is averaging 15.0 PPG and 10.0 RPG in the two conference tournament games. Sophomore G Doron Lamb (13.3 PPG) is averaging 14.0 PPG on 10-of-21 FG in the past two games, and freshman F Michael Kidd-Gilchrist has 14.5 PPG and 8.5 RPG so far in the tournament.Outscoring the opposition by more than 18 ppg this season, the Wildcats have a total of six players scoring at least 9.4 ppg or more, the top man being Davis (14.3 ppg), who also leads the team with 10.0 rpg and has delivered a national-best 154 blocked shots, The 6-10 freshman phenom was named the SEC Freshman of the Year, the Defensive Player of the Year and the overall SEC Player of the Year. The one SEC Tournament title won by Vandy came more than 60 years ago and was levied against the Wildcats by a score of 61-57 in 1951. Kentucky has won the last two tournament titles and is seeking its sixth tourney crown since the turn of the century.

Free Pick: Going with the Over in this one. The Cats come in averaging 74.3 ppg in their last 7 games and they have put up 76 ppg in their 2 games vs Vanderbilt this year. The Cats do play great defense but they did allow 71 points to Florida yesterday and 74 points to Vanderbilt the last time these teams played. Vanderbilt has not been scoring all that great of late, but they still have averaged 73 ppg on the year and 72.2 ppg when they have played away from home this year. Both of these teams do shoot well as the Commodores are 69th in shooting 946%) and 21st in 3 point shooting (39.1%) while the Cats are 9th in shooting (48.7%) and 33rd in 3 point shooting (38%). Both teams also hit their FT's at 69.9% or better. These are some solid defensive teams, but both teams can score in all phases of their offenses and that should have this game hit the 140's with ease.
