Texas A&M, still wounded from last week's loss to No. 1 Alabama, welcomes in-state foe SMU to College Station today for a non-conference clash at Kyle Field. Tonight's meeting between the Aggies and Mustangs is scheduled to kick off at 7:00pm ET; it will be broadcast live on ESPNU. The latest NCAA College Football Odds are favoring Texas A&M at -27.5 against the spread and -6000 on the money line ($6000 wins $100). The Over/Under in this evening's contest is set at 78.5 points.

It was a tail of four different quarters for Johnny Manziel and the Aggies last weekend as they jumped out to a 14-7 first quarter lead and closed with a 21-7 fourth quarter victory, but the second and third frames were all Alabama.

The Crimson Tide blanked A&M 21-0 in the second and they took the third quarter 14-7 to give them a 49-42 revenge win over the Aggies.

On one hand Head Coach Kevin Sumlin can feel good what his team did against what is supposed to be the nation's top defense (the Aggies racked up 628 total yards), but on the other, his defense looked horrible, yielding 31 first downs and 568 total yards to an Alabama offense that tallied 206 yards in its opener against Virginia Tech.

Thankfully for Sumlin, SMU is not Alabama and has looked less capable on offense, at least through two games, than most expected. The Mustangs were sluggish in a 41-23 season opening loss to Texas Tech, and they did not look much better two weekends ago in defeating Montana State (FCS) 31-30 in Dallas.

SMU Head Coach June Jones possesses an innovative offensive mind, though, and he is certain to have come up with a plan to find the end zone against what appears to be a poor Aggies defense.

Johnny Football and his cohorts will have plenty of success today against the Mustangs defense, but laying 27.5 points on A&M, given its defensive struggles, may not be the best choice.
