Will Muschamp's Florida Gators open their conference road schedule tonight as they face East Division rival Kentucky at Commonwealth Stadium in Lexington. Kick off in this evening's showdown between the Gators and Wildcats is set for 7:00pm ET on ESPNU. According to the latest SEC Football Odds, Florida is a -12 against the spread and -460 money line ($460 wins $100) favorite. Kentucky is drawing a +365 money line and the Over/Under is presently set at 47 points.
Florida comes into tonight's contest without its starting quarterback and, arguably, its best defensive player as Jeff Driskel and Dominique Easley suffered season ending injuries last week. The line has moved several points as a result, but that only makes this game more appealing.
While the loss of Easley is a big one, Driskel's absence may not be such a bad thing, at least in the short term. Junior quarterback Tyler Murphy looked like a more than suitable replacement under center in last week's meeting with Tennessee as he completed 8-of-14 passes for 134 yards and one touchdown while also rushing for 84 yards and one score on 10 carries.
Granted, Kentucky's defense is more capable than the Volunteers porous unit, but it figures to be on the field a good majority of this evening's game.
The 1-2 Wildcats turned in decent offensive outings against Western Kentucky and Miami, OH, scoring 26 and 41 points, respectively, but it was sloppy against Louisville's defense two weekends ago (13 points, 17 first downs, 0-for-13 on third down).
While the Cardinals defense is a good one, it is not the equal of Florida's crew. The Gators stop unit figures to force a number of short lived drives tonight, which should give their limited offense enough time to wear down the Wildcats defense.
Notable Trends: Florida is 6-0 both straight up and against the spread in its last six meetings with Kentucky, besting the Wildcats by an average of 35 points per game.
SEC Football Odds Florida vs Kentucky:
Florida Gators -12 (-110), Over 47 (-110), -460 (Moneyline)
Kentucky Wildcats +12 (-110), Under 47 (-110), +365 (Moneyline)
