SEC Football Odds Florida Gators at LSU Tigers

The SEC takes center stage of the college football world on Saturday afternoon when the No. 17 Florida Gators travel to take on the No. 10 LSU Tigers. The game is scheduled for a 3:30 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on CBS. Currently the SEC football odds for the game have LSU favored by a touchdown.

The Florida Gators hit the road in college football action Saturday when they head to Death Valley. The Gators are currently tied atop the SEC East with Georgia while LSU and Auburn are tied for second place in the SEC West behind Alabama. This is obviously a big game for both teams, especially if they have aspirations of making the SEC title game.

LSU has arguably the best defense in the conference, as opponents have scored 20 or fewer points in 12 straight conference games. Florida's defense is pretty solid, too, ranking second overall in total defense. They're allowing just 12.2 points per game to opponents and the only loss on the season was the second game to Miami, on the road, when they did not play well.

The Tigers offense has exploded this season, averaging better than 45 points per game. Zach Mettenberger has been very impressive to date with 15 touchdown passes and better than 1,700 yards through the air. The Gators will have to force LSU to run the football more, but the Gators can stop that, too.

Offensively Florida is very pedestrian. They're averaging only 25 points per game but they do lead the country in time of possession — 37:39 per game. That's hanging onto the football for long periods of time. None of the teams they've played to this point is great at stopping the run,  and LSU is pretty good at that. Look for Tyler Murphy, who has played well this season after being called upon to fill the QB spot, to move the Gators down the field through the air. This game has the feel of a very low-scoring affair and if the Gators are able to make any big plays offensively, they're going to be in the contest.

In the last 10 games each team has won five games and Florida has covered six of those 10 games. The home team has won six of the last eight meetings. This one is going to be close as the underdog has won outright in two of the last three years. We like that to happen again.
