Major League Baseball on Saturday Afternoon and I will have a Free Pick in the game between the Texas Rangers and the New York Yankees, which will be played at Yankees Stadium in the Bronx. First pitch is scheduled for a 1:45 PM (Eastern) start time and the game will be televised on the MLB Network.
Over/ Under: 8 -110
This is game 2 of a 3 game series between these American League foes. The Texas Rangers took game 1 of this series last night and it started out real easy for them as they built a 7-0 lead, before winning just 10-9. The Rangers have now won 3 in a row and have gone 13-10 on the road this year. They Yanks came home off a long 9 game road trip in which they went just 2-7 on, but could not get back on track in their loss to the Rangers. Due to their recent slide the Yanks now trail the Tampa Bay Rays by 1.5 games in the AL East.
Texas ranks 17th in scoring (4.16 rpg), 26th in hitting (.237) and 12th in homers (37) while on the mound they are 21st in ERA (4.25) and 21st in WHIP (1.36). The Rangers have gone 11-1 in their last 12 road games vs. a team with a winning home record and 8-3 in their last 11 road games, but just 5-13 in Martinez's last 18 starts vs. a team with a winning record.
The Yankees rank 11th in scoring (4.38 rpg), 19th in hitting (.245) and 5th in homers (46), while on the mound they are 9th in ERA (3.60) and 7th in WHIP (1.21). The Yanks have gone 19-7 in their last 26 games as a home favorite of -151 to -200 and 7-0 in Sabathia's last 7 starts vs. Rangers, but just 1-6 in his last 7 starts during game 2 of a series.
Getting the ball for Texas today will be Nick Martinez, who comes in at 3-0 with a 1.88 ERA in 8 starts overall, while on the road he has gone 1-0 with a 1.52 ERA in 4 starts. Nick has faced the Yanks twice in his career ad is 0-1 with a 4.91 ERA in those two starts.
Getting the ball for the Yankees today will be CC Sabathia, who is 2-5 with a 4.67 ERA on the year overall, while at home he has gone 0-2 with a 9.28 ERA. CC has had very good success vs the Rangers in his career as he has gone 11-3 with a 4.45 ERA in 18 starts vs them.
Pick: I am going to look for the Yankees to bounce back in this game. Last night they played their first home game after a 9 game road trip and that is usually not a good spot for teams and the Yanks have extra motivation here as they have lost 8 of their last 10 games. CC is 11-3 in his career vs the Rangers and the Yanks are 7-0 in his last 7 games vs the Rangers. Texas has played well on the road here but I just don't see them keeping up with that in this one. Last night the Yanks fell down 7-0 before finally losing by a 10-8 score. This team has the offense to take out the Rangers in this one.

Sell the Chicago Cubs--At Least Sell Their Awful Bullpen
Pro bettor Steve Fezzik isn't saying the 2015 MLB Chicago Cubs team is hopeless, but he is pretty sure their pitching staff is. They may have some batting power in newcomer Kris Bryant, but the bullpen is looking mediocre when they should look abysmal thanks to the weather conditions at Wrigley Field, with cold wins blowing infield making home runs nearly impossible. Fezzik predicts once the wind warms up and starts blowing the opposite direction, the Chicago mound will be exposed as a bunch of pretenders, so look to bet on overs on totals once Chi-town starts to warm up.
