Saturday College Football Stanford Cardinal and California Golden Bears: Start Time, Odds

Pac-12 neighbors Stanford and California will renew their rivalry today when they meet at Memorial Stadium in Berkeley (3:00pm ET start time, FOX). Saturday college football odds have No. 20 Stanford listed as a -3 against the spread road favorite in its meeting with North Division rival Cal. The Golden Bears are a +125 moneyline play ($100 wins $125) to win their third straight game and the Over/Under in this afternoon’s rivalry tilt is set at 48.5 points.

Stanford, playing on the road for the third time in its last four games, finds itself in a difficult spot this afternoon. Certainly the Cardinal have been a better team than Cal of late, including this season; however, they are coming off a physically taxing, emotionally draining loss at Notre Dame.

Stanford (4-2) took the undefeated Irish to overtime, but lost 20-13 after the officials ruled Stepfan Taylor’s goal line effort unsuccessful. The setback was the Cardinal’s second in the last three weeks and its second in two road outings this season.

While Stanford is trying to save its season from becoming a post-Andrew Luck footnote, Cal is attempting to salvage a campaign that appeared certain to have head coach Jeff Tedford searching for employment come December.

The Golden Bears got off to a horrific 1-4 start, but they cruise into today’s game off back-to-back wins as they upset UCLA 43-17 in Berkeley two weeks ago and got past Washington State 31-17 in Pullman last Saturday.

Despite the Bears rough start, they are a good value play in this contest. Stanford has won the last two meetings, but, as previously mentioned, the Cardinal are in a situational letdown spot. While Stanford is capable of overcoming its circumstances, playing on a resurgent team as a home dog is, more time than not, the best choice.

Stanford Cardinal and California Golden Bears College Football Odds:

Stanford Cardinal -3 (-110), Over 48.5 (-110), -145 (Moneyline)

California Golden Bears +3 (-110), Under 48.5 (-110), +125 (Moneyline)
