No. 2 Kansas State welcomes No. 24 Oklahoma State to the Little Apple this evening as it attempts to keep its national championship hopes alive. Start time in tonight’s Big 12 showdown at Bill Snyder Family Stadium is scheduled for 8:00pm ET; the game will be broadcast live on ABC. Oklahoma State at Kansas State College Football Odds are favoring the undefeated Wildcats at -8.5 against the spread. Oklahoma State is drawing +250 moneyline odds ($100 wins $250) and the game total is coming in at 67 points.

Most pundits expected Kansas State to be a good team this season, but the majority felt Bill Snyder’s troops would have difficulty matching last year’s 10 wins due to their difficult schedule. Through eight games the Wildcats have effectively rendered those prognostications imprudent as they have destroyed all comers both at home and on the road.

Now Kansas State, stunningly, finds itself in the thick of the national title chase. In fact, should the Wildcats win out, they will, in all probability, earn a spot in the BCS National Championship Game.

Winning out is easier said then done and Oklahoma State is proof of such. The Cowboys are not the same team they were a season ago, but they are still a dangerous opponent. Mike Gundy’s squad, which has won three straight and four of its last five games, ranks first in the nation in total offense (586.1 yards per game) and its 44.3 point per game average is the sixth best in the FBS.

Kansas State has handled similar offenses this season, though, shutting down both Oklahoma and West Virginia. The bigger question is whether or not the Pokes defense can handle the Wildcats ridiculously efficient offensive attack. Heisman front runner Collin Klein and the Cats are averaging an amazing 9.8 yards per point and they have topped the 50 point mark in six of their eight games. 

Free Pick: Take Kansas State -8.5. Oklahoma State is no joke, and it absolutely could win this game, but it would need some Kansas State mistakes to do so. Mistakes, however, are not something the Wildcats specialize in, especially at home. And who really believes Oklahoma State is going to shut down K-State’s offense? Kansas State has covered in seven of its eight games this season and there is no reason to jump off the gravy train now.
