College Football Betting Odds Notre Dame Fighting Irish vs USC Trojans Free Pick

College football week 14 and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish will travel to the L.A. Memorial Stadium to take on the USC Trojans. The game has a start time of 3:30 pm (Eastern) and will be televised on FOX. Current Vegas odds have the Trojans listed as 7 point favorites, while the total is set at 62.5.

Analysis:  The Notre Dame Fighting Irish were thought of a s a playoff contender earlier i the year, but then they lost to Arizona state and that seemed to have taken the wind out of their sails as they have now lost 3 games in a row. For the year the Irish are now 7-4 overall and 2-2 on the road. Notre Dame is 5-1 ATS in their last 6 vs. Pac-12, but just 0-6-1 ATS in their last 7 games after accumulating less than 100 yards rushing in their previous game. The Irish have been a very good offensive team this year, ranking 32nd in total yards, 16th in passing, 76th in rushing and 34th in scoring (34.7 ppg). The defense has been average at best, ranking 58th overall, 65th vs the pass, 57th vs the run and 74th in points allowed (27.4 ppg).

The USC Trojans come into this game off a bad 38-20 loss at UCLA. The loss now has them at 7-4 on the year overall, which includes 6-3 in the Pac-12 and 4-1 at home. The Trojans are 24-9 ATS in their last 33 games following a S.U. loss and 7-3 ATS in their last 10 home games, but just 3-8 ATS in their last 11 non-conference games. USC has been a decent offensive team, ranking 40th in total yards, 30th in passing, 79th in rushing and 36th in scoring (33.8 ppg). The defense has been rather average for this team, ranking 73rd in total yards allowed 112th vs the pass, 30th vs the run and 56th in points allowed (24.6 ppg).

Pick: I am going to look at the over in this game. Both teams have nothing to play for right now and i expect both teams to just let it all hang out in this one. The Irish offense has been very solid all year, averaging 34.7 ppg, but it has been their defense that has let them down over the second half of the year as they have allowed a whopping 40.3 ppg in their last 6 games. USC should have a field day in this one, especially since they have averaged 525 ypg and 43 ppg at home this year. The USC defense has been solid overall, but did allowed 38 to UCLA last week, 30 to Cal the week before, 28 to Colorado and 38 to ASU earlier in the year. The will give up points to an Irish offense that has averaged 34.5 ppg on the road. Both teams will get their fair share of points in what should be a shootout.
