An SEC showdown takes place on Saturday as the marquee game in college football between the No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide and the Arkansas Razorbacks. CBS will broadcast the game live nationally with a start time of 3:30 pm EST. The odds on the game have Alabama favored to crush Arkansas with a 20 point spread.

This was going to be a battle of Top 5 teams until Arkansas went out and lost to UL-Monroe in Little Rock. Oops — maybe your absolute perfect look-ahead situation there. Plus they lost quarterback and Heisman sleeper Tyler Wilson to a head injury in that game. His status is still uncertain for Saturday's game against the Tide. If he plays and he's healthy enough to give it a go, the Razorbacks could contend in this game and hold on for that three-touchdown spread. But then again, how much of that is public perception of Alabama steamrolling their way to big wins and Arkansas flopping?

The Crimson Tide have won five straight games in this series and have averaged almost 38 points per game in those five games. Wow. Last year Alabama beat up up Arkansas 38-14 and returning QB A.J. McCarron had a day with two touchdown passes and 200 yards through the air. So far this season McCarron has dominated everyone, throwing for six scores and not tossing an interception yet.

A key trend to look at, however, is that Arkansas has won their last eight games at home against the number versus SEC schools the past two seasons.

It's the first time the Tide are playing an unranked Arkansas squad since 2009, when they routed the Razorbacks 35-7. The Crimson Tide have won 32 straight against teams outside of the Top 25. The last time they lost to a team outside the Top 25? You guessed it, a 21-14 loss to Louisiana-Monroe on Nov. 17, 2007.
