The Golden Gophers of Minnesota have burrowed their way to corn country today for a meeting with Big Ten Legends leader Nebraska (3:30pm ET start time, Big Ten Network). Saturday College Football Minnesota at Nebraska Odds are predicting a Cornhuskers route in this divisional clash as they have the Gophers listed as a +20 against the spread road dog. Today’s game total is set at 53 points.
Minnesota is having a tremendous bounce back season under the direction of Head Coach Jerry Kill, qualifying for a bowl with last week’s 17-3 win over Illinois; however, the Gophers have experienced their share of troubles in getting past the Big Ten’s upper echelon teams.
Minnesota’s six wins have come against UNLV, New Hampshire, Western Michigan, Syracuse, Purdue, and the aforementioned Illinois while its losses were opposite Iowa, Northwestern, Wisconsin, and Michigan.
Those games would suggest the Gophers are in trouble today, as would Nebraska’s unblemished home record. The Huskers, who have wins over Wisconsin, Northwestern, Michigan, and Michigan State, are 6-0 in Lincoln where they are winning by an average of 25 points per game.
Minnesota may not be such a bad play against the spread, though. Despite years of futility, the Gophers are 8-2 opposite the number (2-8 straight up) in their last 10 games a road dog against a Big Ten opponent in the month of September.
Nebraska should get the win, but its propensity to start slow and keep lesser teams in games makes it a less than appealing ATS team.
