Arizona will look to recover from last week’s ugly loss at UCLA today when it welcomes Colorado to Arizona Stadium in Tucson. This afternoon’s conference battle between the Wildcats and Buffaloes has a scheduled start time of 1:30pm ET (FX network). Arizona’s up and down season continued last week as it got shellacked 66-10 playing as a three point road underdog at UCLA. The Wildcats yielded 308 rush yards, committed 15 penalties, and turned the ball over three times in the lopsided loss.

Arizona, which lost starting quarterback Matt Scott (out for today’s game) to a concussion last weekend, saw a two game win streak come to an end in Pasadena. The setback dropped the Wildcats to 5-4 overall and 2-4 in the Pac-12.

The best cure for any downtrodden football team, though, is college football’s worst squad (arguably), Colorado. The Buffaloes have proven themselves an elixir for all save Washington State as they bring an abysmal 1-8 record into today’s game.

Looking at some of Colorado’s results this season, it is absolutely stunning that it has even one win to its credit. The Buffaloes, who suffered a 30-28 home loss to FCS school Sacramento State in week two, have dropped five straight games by an average of 42 points per game after giving up an average of 52.2 points per contest.

Arizona may be down emotionally and it may be without its starting quarterback, but it will not matter. Rodriquez knows offense and Colorado knows nothing about defense, winning or even keeping it close.

Free Pick: Take Arizona -29. Is there a spread big enough to back the Buffaloes? Probably, but the odds makers are having trouble finding it. Arizona, in this writer’s estimation, gets value here for being without its starting quarterback and for getting blasted last week by the Bruins. Were it not for those two things, this line may be 35 or more points and even that would not be enough.
