San Jose State will take aim at its ninth win of the season when it battles BYU at Spartan Stadium this evening (10:30pm ET start time, ESPN2). Saturday College Football BYU at San Jose State Odds is favoring the visiting Cougars at -3 against the spread; the game total is set at 47 points. San Jose State is drawing +130 moneyline odds ($100 wins $130) to hand BYU its fifth loss of the season.
It is fair to say that San Jose State has been tested this season as it has faced several quality opponents, including Stanford, San Diego State, and Utah State. It only managed to win one of those contests (beat the Aztecs 38-34), though, which explains why the Spartans, despite their 8-2 record, are an underdog in tonight’s game.
The Cougars have passed even fewer tests, as evidenced by their 6-4 record; however, they have played a far more difficult schedule, battling teams like Boise State, Utah State, Oregon State, and Notre Dame.
BYU is playing exceptionally well right now too, having outscored its last two opponents (Georgia Tech and Idaho) 93-30. The Spartans will not go as meekly as the Yellow Jackets and Vandals, but they will go nonetheless.
The Cougars defense, which ranks seventh in the nation in points per game allowed, will shut down the Spartans’ offense, leading them to their second road win of the season.
Free Pick: Take BYU –3. The Cougars are 10-0 straight up and 7-3 against the spread in their last 10 games as a road favorite in the month of November.
BYU at San Jose State College Football Odds:
BYU Cougars -3 (-110), Over 47 (-110), -150 (Moneyline)
San Jose State Spartans +3 (-110), Under 47 (-110), +130 (Moneyline)
