Saturday Baseball Toronto Blue Jays vs Boston Red Sox Betting Odds Free Pick

Saturday afternoon baseball and we will see the Toronto Blue Jays take on the Boston Red Sox in game 2 of their 3 game series from Fenway Park in Boston. Free Pick to follow. First pitch is scheduled for a 1:35 PM (Eastern) start time and the game will be televised locally.

Betting Odds

Toronto               +136
Boston                 -149

Over/ Under: 9 U -120

Last night the Jays and Sox played a wild one as Boston jumped out to a 5-0 lead after 1 and an 8-1 lead after 3 before Toronto came back to win the game 13-10. The Win now marks the 8th in a row for Toronto, who are just 2 games out of first in the AL East. The Red Sox continue to flounder as they have now lost 4 in a row and are stuck in the basement of the AL East with a 27-35 record on the year.

The Blue Jays rank 1st in scoring (5.45 rpg), 4th in hitting (.268) and 4th in homers (76), while on the mound they are 27th in ERA (4.31) and 17th in WHIP (1.29). Toronto is 6-0 in their last 6 games vs. a right-handed starter and 6-1 in their last 7 games vs. a starter with a WHIP greater than 1.30, but just 3-13 in Dickey's last 16 starts as a road underdog of +110 to +150.

Boston ranks 24th in scoring (3.84 rpg), 19th in hitting (.247) and 12th in homers (58), while on the mound they are 28th in ERA (4.41) and 23rd in WHIP (1.33). Boston is  37-18 in Buchholz's last 55 starts as a favorite of -110 to -150, but just  5-13 in their last 18 games as a favorite of -110 to -150 and 4-12 in their last 16 during game 2 of a series.

Getting the ball for the Blue Jays tonight will be R.A Dickey, who is 2-6 with a 5.35 ERA on the year overall, while on the road he is 0-4 with a 6.52 ERA. Dickey is 6-5 with a 4.45 ERA in 18 games (12 starts) in his career vs the Red Sox, while at Fen Way he is 2-2 with a 4.33 ERA in 8 games (4 starts).

Taking the hill for the Red Sox tonight will be Clay Buchholz, who is 3-6 with a 4.07 ERA in 12 starts this year, while at home he has gone 1-4 with a 4.37 ERA. Clay is 12-9 with a 3.42 ERA in 26 games (25 starts) vs the Jays in his career.

Pick: I have to look at the Over here. Boston is a pretty sizeable favorite, so they should be expected to score some run and we know that the Blue Jays will get their's as well. The Blue Jays come in averaging a hefty 7.78 rpg in their last 9 games and they will be facing Buchholz, who has a 4.37 ERA at home and a 6.18 ERA in his last 7 starts vs the Jays. The Boston offense has been poor this year, but they broke out last night with 10 runs and will be taking on R.A. Dickey, who has a 6.52 ERA on the road this year and in 2 starts vs the ox this year he has allowed 19 ERs in just 13 innings of work. This one has DD runs being scored all over it.
