San Francisco Giants vs St. Louis Cardinals MLB Free Picks & Odds

The San Francisco Giants are in the Show Me State today as they prepare to open a three game set with the St. Louis Cardinals at Busch Stadium. Tonight’s meeting between the Giants and Cardinals is scheduled to get underway at 8:15pm ET. MLB Free Picks & Odds at 5Dimes have the hosting Red Birds listed as a -140 money line favorite; the Over/Under is set at 7.5 runs (Under favored at -120 odds). San Francisco is drawing +130 odds to garner its 30th win of the season.

San Francisco, a 9-15 road team this season, snapped a three game skid yesterday, topping its Bay Area rival Oakland 5-2 at AT&T Park. The Giants, who improved to 29-25 and drew within a game and half of the first place Diamondbacks with the win, will attempt to stay on course tonight with Matt Cain on the hill.

Cain owns a solid 1.19 WHIP and .223 batting average against, but his ERA is a lackluster 5.00 through 11 starts. Cain has looked more like himself of late, though, allowing just six hits and four earned runs in his last two starts (12 innings pitched).

Cain’s early season struggles resulted in an 0-5 record for the Giants in his first five appearances, but that trend has since turned. San Francisco is 6-0 in Cain’s last six starts while the Alabama native has earned a win in four of his last five outings.

St. Louis, which saw a four game winning streak end with last night’s 2-4 rain delayed loss to the Royals, will chase its 36th win tonight. Rookie hurler Shelby Miller gets the call for the Cardinals as he makes his 11 start of the season.

Miller brings a 2.02 ERA, 0.98 WHIP, and .201 batting average against to the mound, but he his coming two of his worst starts of the season. The 22 year old righty has allowed 12 hits, six earned runs, and four free passes in his last 11 innings of work.

St. Louis took two out of three from the Giants in San Francisco earlier this season, but these two clubs are 4-4 in their last eight meetings and 2-2 in their last four games at Busch Stadium.

Notable Trends: The Giants are 8-2 in their last 10 games as a road dog with a total between 7.5 and 8 runs.
