The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series will tackle the legendary Indianapolis Motor Speedway today as the Samuel Deeds 400 at the Brickyard is scheduled to get underway at 1:00pm ET. This afternoon's race will be broadcast live on ESPN. The latest Brickyard Betting Odds at Sportsbook.ag have Jimmie Johnson, the current Sprint Cup Standings leader with 696 points, listed as a +250 favorite to win the Brickyard 400. Kasey Kahne is the second choice of the offshore odds maker at +600 odds ($100 wins $600) and Matt Kenseth is third with a +800 money line. Danica Patrick, who made her name racing on the Indy circuit, is drawing +30000 odds to win in her return to the familiar Brickyard.
Jimmie Johnson, a five-time Sprint Cup champion, looks well on his way to another based upon his performance of late. The Hendrick Motorsports driver has four wins this season, two of which have come in the last six races, and he has finished ninth or better in his last four outings. The Brickyard should only bring more optimism to Johnson's camp given his history at the legendary venue.
Johnson has four wins and five top 10 finishes in 11 career appearances at the track. He will start today's race on the outside of Row 1 next to pole sitter Ryan Newman.
Kasey Kahne, a teammate of Johnson's at Hendrick Motorsports, is a solid choice as well, despite some horrific luck this season. Kahne, who sits 10th in the points standings, owns five top 10 results in nine races at the Brickyard. He has also shown signs of ending his unfortunate run; he last four results were (in order): sixth, eleventh, thirty-second, and eleventh. Granted, not the best of finishes, but still a solid display of consistency.
Tony Stewart, despite a lackluster season thus far (12th in the points standings), represents a great pick at +900 odds. Stewart, who starts from the inside of Row 3 today, has two wins and 10 top 10 finishes in 14 career Sprint Cup outings at the Brickyard.
