The New Orleans Saints will meet a NFC South rival for a second consecutive weekend as they are in Tampa Bay to face the beleaguered Buccaneers. Tomorrow’s meeting between the two divisional adversaries is scheduled to get underway at 4:05pm ET at Raymond James Stadium (FOX). The Saints are favored at -3 against the spread and -160 on the money line in the latest NFL Picks Week 2 from 5Dimes. The game total is set at 47.5 points and the Bucs are drawing +140 odds ($100 wins $140) to even their record at 1-1.

New Orleans got off to a shaky start last weekend, falling behind the Falcons 0-10 in the first quarter, but it dominated the next three frames, outscoring Atlanta 23-7 en route to a six point victory.

The Saints offense was sharp as usual, producing 419 total yards while holding the ball for 35:11. Drew Brees completed 26-of-35 passes for 357 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception in the victory.

The most encouraging part of the win for New Orleans, though, was performance of its defense. The Saints, who fielded the league’s worst stop unit a season ago, forced two turnovers and held the Falcons to 2-of-4 in the red zone and 3-of-11 on third down.

The Buccaneers season opener did not go as well. Tampa Bay drew a -4 line against the Jets at MetLife Stadium but they left the venue with an 17-18 loss hanging around their necks.

The Bucs offense was nothing short of dreadful, posting just 12 first downs and 250 total yards as Josh Freeman struggled through a 15-for-31, 210 yards, one touchdown, one interception outing (67.9 quarterback rating).

Tampa Bay also had 13 penalties, one of which set up a game winning field goal for the Jets with just two second left on the game clock.

Going back to last season, the Bucs are now 1-6 in their last seven games. That downward spiral figures to continue tomorrow given Tampa Bay’s recent struggles against New Orleans at Raymond James Stadium.

The Saints are 3-1 straight up in their last four games at Tampa and they are 4-1 against the spread in their last five as a visitor in this series.
