In the Kentucky Derby, Calvin Borel road Revolutionary, one of the contenders in today's 2013 Belmont Stakes. Borel will not run with the horse again in this race as Javier Castellano takes the reigns for one of the best horses according to the 2013 Belmont Stakes Odds. The Belmont Stakes is known in horse racing as the "Test of Champions" that covers 1.5 miles and certainly separates the contenders from the pretenders.
The third and final leg of horse racing's Triple Crown will take place later today at at Belmont Park in Elmont, New York. While their isn't a horse running for horse racing glory in the Belmont Stakes, it certainly still will be a race to remember.
Revolutionary was one of the horses that ran in the Kentucky Derby but did not make an attempt in the Preakness Stakes. Only nine horses ran in that race, but Revolutionary was held out of the second leg of the Triple Crown. In fact, Revolutionary has not run in a single race since the Derby. The horse will open the Belmont Stakes from the ninth post position and currently has 9-2 odds to win the Belmont Stakes.
This is one of five Todd Pletcher horses in the Belmont Stakes this year. Revolutionary ended up being 6-1 odds as the Kentucky Derby went off and this horses finished third in that event. A Pletcher horse hasn't won at the Belmont Stakes since the 2007 year when Rags to Riches became the first filly in 102 years to win the third leg of the Triple Crown.
Castellano has won at the Preakness Stakes before and will be looking to ride Revolutionary, the third best odds-on horse, to the winner's circle yet again.
