Pittsburgh Pirates at St. Louis Cardinals Start Time, MLB Odds, Free Pick

The St. Louis Cardinals welcome in the Pittsburgh Pirates tonight for their series finale in Major League Baseball action. The game is scheduled for an 7:15 p.m. start time and it will be televised live on the MLB Network. Currently the MLB Odds for the game have the Cardinals favored to pick up the victory in this matchup at home.

St. Louis looks to win a third straight over Pittsburgh tonight in the series finale at Busch Stadium. The Cardinals have been beating up on everyone this season and while Pittsburgh has an argument for being one of the best teams in the National League, the Cardinals certainly have their number this season.

Nobody has more wins than St. Louis this season and the 42 victories at home are the best in baseball as well. Their continued success over Pittsburgh has them dominating the NL Central and cruising at this point in the year. Tonight the Cardinals will start Lance Lynn, he'll be opposed by Francisco Liriano in what should be another solid pitching performance in this series.

Lynn is 9-6 on the season and he has a 2.76 ERA. He's been exceptionally good in home starts this season, going 6-2 with a 2.15 ERA while holding opponents to a .224 average over 71 innings. Current Pirates are hitting .274 against him, Neil Walker has had the most success with three home runs while hitting .351 against him in 37 at bats. Sterling Marte is hitting .381 against him as well in 21 plate appearances. Lynn has made two starts against the Pirates this year, he's 0-1 with a 4.91 ERA in those two games, a span of 11 innings.

Liriano is 7-6 with a 3.13 ERA on the season, his home and road splits show he's a much better pitcher on the road this year. In nine starts Liriano has compiled a 4-2 record with a 2.11 ERA while holding opponents to a .199 average. Liriano has faced off against the Cardinals three times already this year, he's officially 0-1 in those starts but Pittsburgh is 1-2. Two of Liriano's starts saw him allow two earned runs or less.

Current Cardinals are hitting .242 against him in 236 plate appearances. Jhonny Peralta had four home runs and 17 hits in 51 at bats (.333), Peter Bourjas has nine hits as well. Yadier Molina has also hit a home run off Liriano, but he does have some good numbers against many of the St. Louis hitters.

Liriano could throw a great game tonight, but the Cardinals are just playing too well right now.

Vegas betting expert Steve Fezzik doesn’t expect the bad situation in Oakland to get much better this season. This AFC West team may have some improvements in terms of personnel, but Jack Del Rio is the latest in a carousel of ever-changing mediocre coaches, and Fezzik doesn’t expect he is the guy to turn this team around. He also thinks people are overstating Derek Carr’s abilities at quarterback, as he may do well in the fourth quarter, but his numbers are padded with garbage time performance.
